Viva Mexico!—May the Fiesta Begin
After some much needed rain this summer, September rolls around and we’re all getting ready for a big fiesta this month. Once at Casa Dorada, you can’t miss all the special events we have in store for you this Mes Patrio (National Month).
Mexican Independence Day is next Monday (September 16th) and as you may know, this is the ultimate celebration for every Mexican. Commemorating the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence on September 16, 1810, this is a great reason for nationwide festivities.
According to tradition, every year on September 15 at 11:00pm the President of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City. Then, he repeats a cry of patriotism with the names of the important heroes of the Mexican War of Independence ending with “Viva México! “ shouted three times.
That’s when the real fiesta begins. But in fact, during the entire month of September, you’ll find special Independence Day menus in restaurants throughout the country and many businesses will decorate their establishments in red, green and white. Our Casa Kidz has been completely transformed for the occasion and Yoshelin with her little helpers have really done a fantastic decorating job!
Of course traditional Mexican food and tequila are a big part of the festivities as well. So if you’re in Mexico this month, don’t miss Casa Dorada’s patriotic festivities from 15-21 September. You’ll be able to savor some traditional dishes from the region of Puebla such as Mole, Chiles en Nogada, Tamales and so much more.
