Starting on January 1st, 2023, the state of Baja California Sur will implement an increase in the Lodging Services Tax to 4%. This modification of the 1% increase was previously announced by the Congress of the State of Baja California Sur. The objective of the Lodging Services Tax is to contribute to the betterment of the state’s social and tourism development. There is no change to 3% of the tax collected going to the Baja California Sur Tourism Promotion Trusts, and the additional 1% will be allocated to the Trust for Social Infrastructure Works (FOIS). As a reminder for all travelers visiting Los Cabos, hotels, timeshares, and lodging facilities across the destination are required by law to include the 4% Lodging Services Tax for all lodging services. The tax will be implemented for all new and unpaid reservations as of January 1, 2023. Lodging reservations made and paid by December 31, 2022, will not be impacted.
